Volunteers make Rake ’n’ Bake a success each fall, and the call
is out now for more help with the 15th annual event this month.
Peter Brady has been marshaling about a thousand volunteers in recent
years for the multi-community service day in recent years, which is
believed to be possibly the largest volunteer effort in the state.
1998, when Mr. Brady established the Rake ‘n’ Bake program, 10
volunteers—five in his family of five and five of his kids’
friends—assisted two clients with their fall yard work.
This year, 78 clients are on the list for the Nov. 16 service day.
Rake ’n’ Bake began as a Brookfield endeavor but soon grew to include other communities in the Greater Danbury area.
